Unless you arrived by boat, anyone that has been to Long Beach Island has visited Ship Bottom. It is found at the end of Route 72 and is the first place you see once you have crossed the bridge.

 

Beach Badge Information

Beach badges are required on the ocean and bay beaches for everyone older than 12. They are needed from mid June through early September. The rates for badges are:

seasonal - $35

weekly - $17, valid from Saturday through Friday

daily - $7

senior - $3, 65 years young and over (proof of age required, lifetime badge))

 

Other Beach Information

Beach Badges are for sale at the Borough Hall - 17th Ave and Long Beach Blvd. They can also be purchased from the badge checkers.

Lifeguards are on duty from 10 AM to 5 PM, weather permitting.

Surfing is only allowed in lifeguard designated areas during the summer season.

Food, alcohol, and pets are not allowed on the beach all summer and through to October 1.

 

Beach Access

All the east-west streets that end at the beach provide beach access.

Parking is limited to 1 hour on ocean side streets. Exceptions are signed, so watch where you park. On bay-side streets, parking is allowed all day. There is also some parking available between 18th and 22nd Streets.

The bay beach is located at 15th Street and all the beach badge rules applicable to the beach also apply here.

Restrooms are found at Borough Hall (17th Ave and Long Beach Blvd) and at two bayside parks (10th through 16th street).
